Vid of me landing

Here is a video of my first solo landing. My dad is heard on the cell phone. He took work off just to see it! True family :)

Lowrace 2000c

I finally got a brand new Lowrance 2000c from Aircraft Spruce in Corona. The service there was just shy of excellent because they did not seem to run the will-call center very efficiently. Besides that they answered all my questions and made sure I was satisfied.
Before I chose the 2000c model, I was seriously considering the coveted Garmin 496. I figured if I were to get a hand held I might as well get the best. Good thing I looked at it first. The 496 is small in comparison to the Lowrance and awkward to use. The Lowrance on the other hand has a larger screen than the Garmin and is easier to use. The decision came down to the size and quality of the display and not all the little things, like weather, traffic, or XM radio which the Garmin had but not the Lowrance. I realized that those things are not for free so I would be better off with a better alternative.
The Lowrance comes with everything you need either for car or plane and even includes an external antenna that suctions onto flat surfaces. What I really like about this Lowrance is the fact that it has terrain awareness. This is very nice! Especially when flying at night. (Of course a prudent pilot will always use maps to navigate clear of treacherous terrain.) P.S. Did I mention the price? How about 798 compared to the Garmin 2700. And if you own an older Lowrance- I'm not exactly sure which models- you may be able to turn them in for a 200 dollar rebate towards your next Lowrance 2000c. I'll have more pictures posted later in the week. Bye for now.
